On March 9, the town of Dickinson notified the organization that we need to replace our dated water meter. We have scheduled this work for March 25. On Saturday, March 25, due to the replacement of our water meter, there will be no running water at the Glenwood campus for eight or more hours.

We are three weeks away from the deadline to submit nominations for the 2023 Ron Dougherty Award! The Ron Dougherty Award is given to the BOCES employee who embodies Mr. Dougherty’s selfless commitment and dedication to our BOCES and our community ... someone who “walks the walk” in their commitment to personal and professional growth and community involvement.
The Ken Burns documentary “Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness” served as the catalyst for conversation on March 10, as more than 150 area educators convened on the Broome-Tioga BOCES campus for a day-long seminar. The event was a collaboration between BOCES and the component school districts, Binghamton University and WSKG.

All New York State schools are required to have students in attendance for a minimum of 180 school days in a school year. To meet this requirement and maintain our current school calendar, the Commissioner of Education passed regulations to allow districts to use remote-learning days when the weather is a concern for safe travel to school.

This morning, district leaders and school board members joined state legislators for the annual Legislative Breakfast Meeting at BOCES. The event was hosted by the Broome-Tioga School Boards Association and the Broome-Tioga Association of Chief School Administrators. The meeting allows leaders to learn more about what is happening with the state budget and to advocate on behalf of their school communities.
