Maureen Malloy

Maureen Malloy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology with honors at Syracuse University and her Master’s in Natural Sciences from the Roswell Park Division of University of Buffalo, completing research in molecular immunology. She earned her master’s in secondary education from Niagara University.

During her 24-year tenure, Ms. Malloy has taught biology and chemistry and is currently the New Visions Health Academy instructor for Broome-Tioga BOCES. She teaches Health Academy and Medical Terminology classes and coordinates job shadowing experiences in health care fields for students in this rigorous college preparation program.

She has served as a department chairperson for high school science, adjunct instructor for Tompkins Cortland Community College, and Fast Forward instructor for SUNY Broome. She was head coach for indoor and outdoor varsity track teams and has been a member of various committees, including acting as a district-level literacy team leader and SADD adviser.

Ms. Malloy is a member of the Strategic Planning and Professional Development teams at BOCES. She is also an adviser for the SUNY Upstate Medical Case Competition, a volunteer at United Health Services hospitals, and a board member for the Medical Loan Society of Broome County.

She pursued her interest in running and fitness as a participant in and mentor for a runners’ development program, completing 13 marathons, and she continues to participate in local charity road races.

Ms. Malloy is looking forward to collaborating with teachers who have similar goals, providing a unique perspective and learning from their experiences.
