Annie Cartie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education - Mathematics from SUNY Cortland, and her Master of Science in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology, with a specialization in Math and Science Education from SUNY University at Albany. She currently teaches applied Algebra 2 in Southern Tier P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) at Broome-Tioga BOCES.
Mrs. Cartie is in her sixth year at BT-BOCES and works with the Engineering Technology, Computer Technology, and Health Studies academies. She previously worked as a STEM teacher (algebra 1 and integrated eighth-grade science and math courses in an alternative setting), and as an outreach educator, teaching media literacy and audio/video production skills to teens.
She serves as the Work-Based Learning Coordinator for P-TECH where she designs and facilitates service-learning projects, guest speakers, and industry tours. She is passionate about project-based learning and strives to develop, design, and facilitate projects that connect engineering and computer technology courses to work in the community.
Mrs. Cartie also manages her program’s Twitter account (@SoTierPTECH). Outside of teaching, she is an avid gardener with a love for native flowers and trees, growing strawberries, and designing an ever-expanding vegetable garden. She is an active member of her local garden club, runs the club’s website and social media accounts, and serves as photographer and historian. As a NYS Master Teacher, she looks forward to learning alongside passionate educators and finding new ways to connect content to careers.
