Grades 4-8
When electricity was in its infancy two very different models were being developed. Both had potential and it was only a matter of time before things were going to a head. Thomas Edison was solidly backing the potential of direct current while George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla were developing what they called a polyphase current. New York State was destined to become the center of this battle.
This program will introduce students to the many New York State connections to the War of the Currents. Students will be introduced to part of the science behind the generations of and transmissions of electricity.
