Description:
Jorge's Percussion Ensemble is made up of the best regional percussionists demonstrating the many Afro-Latin rhythms like Bolero, Cha cha cha, Changui, Mambo, Son Montuno, Salsa, Rumba, Guaguanco, Bomba, & Plena. The ensemble always starts out by demonstrating the rhythms and the accompanying instruments. We discuss the origins of the rhythms and the instruments, and then bring up as many volunteers to play with us as we can accommodate. Students and teachers alike won't be able to resist wanting to participate on stage or from their seats!
For an extended and more meaningful experience, you may also add/include this ensemble in Jorge's entry "Residencies."
