WHAT MAKES A COMMUNITY?

(Grades PreK - 3)

Through the experience of building their own city and exploring our newly expanded model train layout, students will learn about the social and physical aspects of a community. Included will be the components important for a safe, fun neighborhood in which to live.

Common Core Learning Standards: English Language Arts:
• Presentation of Knowledge and Ideas (Speaking and Listening)
• Comprehension and Collaboration (Speaking and Listening)
• Vocabulary Acquisition and Use


Learning Standards for Science
• Use Scientific Inquiry to Pose Questions, Seek Answers, Develop Solutions

Learning Standards for Social Studies
• History of the US and NY
• Geography
• Civics, Citizenship, and Government

 Cost:
$225.00 per group
2 complimentary chaperones per group
$7.00 per additional chaperone

Class Limit: Maximum 25 students per group; multiple groups can be accommodated in one day

Length of Program: 2 hours 15 minutes
