While picking trash, students also gather data used in fight against pollution
As part of a class project, the students conducted a waste assessment and brand audit to gather data that will be submitted to a global initiative designed to address single use plastic pollution. Donning gloves and toting large plastic bags, the students picked up countless items found along the roadside between Southside Park and the Broome County Humane Society. Along the way, they were greeted by south side City Councilman Chris Papastrat, who graciously answered numerous questions from students about the city's policies and approach to trash control and overall waste management.
