New Visions JA project concludes with presentation to shareholders, donations to community

The successful company was created by the students as part of a Junior Achievement project offered through BOCES New Visions Business Academy. Working with volunteer mentors from local business, the students got firsthand experience by assuming the key roles in a business enterprise: management, finance, sales and customer service, supply chain, and marketing.

The group elected to sell specialty greeting cards and multi-purpose water bottles, which generated a net income of $4,426. They completed the project by liquidating the company and reporting the results in a formal presentation to stakeholders and others at the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator in downtown Binghamton. A large portion of the company’s income was donated to several local charities, including Warmth for Winter, The Magic Paintbrush, the Humane Society, the Memory Maker Project, and A Room To Heal.
