BOCES hosts annual legislative breakfast meeting
This morning, district leaders and school board members joined state legislators for the annual Legislative Breakfast Meeting at BOCES.
The event was hosted by the Broome-Tioga School Boards Association and the Broome-Tioga Association of Chief School Administrators. The meeting allows leaders to learn more about what is happening with the state budget and advocate for their school communities.
Newark Valley CSD Board President Randy Kerr talked about transportation issues and how moving to electric buses will have an impact on upstate school districts. Binghamton City School District Superintendent Tonia Thompson also spoke about fiscal responsibilities for the region.
Senior Government Relations Specialist from the NY School Boards Association, Caroline Bobick gave a presentation on NYSSBA Governmental Relations and at the end of the presentations, there were comments from the legislators and a question and answer session.

A special thank you to the Broome-Tioga BOCES students and staff who helped make this annual event run smoothly: the Culinary Department under the guidance of Jestina Dawson and Rachel Patinka for their help with breakfast, the Criminal Justice Department and Don Entwhistle for their assistance with parking and the Career and Technical Education SkillsUSA Leadership Club, directed by Angel Mead, for acting as guides.
