A group of students and advisors from Broome-Tioga BOCES’ Career & Technical Education programs attended the New York State SkillsUSA Fall Leadership Conference in Syracuse on November 2-4.Participants were encouraged to work outside of their comfort zone and get to know other students from across the state. Additionally, they were urged to develop a community service project and were given tools to become leaders within their own SkillsUSA chapters.
The students and advisors were also challenged to work toward achieving their SkillsUSA Statesmanship Award. Each of them received a statesmanship pin.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry leaders working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel, in part by sponsoring competitions at the regional, state, and national levels.
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
