Dozens brave the elements to support Special Olympics at polar plunge

The Binghamton Polar Plunge is one of several conducted around the state by the state Special Olympics organization. Locally, the plunge receives invaluable support from the New York State Police dive team and Chenango Valley State Park staff, among others.

This year’s Binghamton event was the first in the state to feature participants entering the water via a water slide, a feature added as a result of recent renovations at the park.
