P-TECH students pitch ideas in Shark Tank-style competition

Through this project, students exercise communication skills within their team, use collaboration tools to track tasks, and present their work to the sharks in a polished final presentation.

The winner of Shark Tank 2018 was … the Computer Technology Academy.

Their pitch included creating a virus exploration lab for hands-on practice protecting operating systems and a virtual reality lab for students to be at the forefront of this emerging technology. A trip to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology rounded out a budget that effectively supports students’ educational and career goals. Congratulations to instructor Brian Tolan and his students.

A special thank you to our favorite “tough” shark, Mark Dylewski of BOCES, and  Robin Tobin, instructional designer for the Raymond Corporation, who spoke about the growing need for cyber security and virtual reality experts in advancing the work of his company.
