Teacher named state Special Olympics Coach of the Year

VanOsten has been a BOCES physical education teacher and Special Olympics coach for about 27 years. She was our 2015 Ron Dougherty Award winner, which is the highest employee recognition we have here at BOCES. She was nominated for that award by co-workers for her boundless support and caring for students and her tireless commitment to the Special Olympics organization and its goals of promoting confidence and self-esteem among student athletes. The extra hours – including evenings and weekends – she has dedicated to her students are simply innumerable.
