Building dreams - one home at a time

Working in partnership with Broome County Habitat For Humanity, and funded through a grant from the Hoyt Foundation, BOCES students and staff wrapped up a two-year project that resulted in a modern, three-bedroom ranch home that will soon belong to a deserving family in our community.

Involving students enrolled in several career and technical education program at BOCES - including masonry, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and heavy equipment repair and operation - the finished home was lifted from the construction platform located at the back of BOCES' Glenwood Road campus, placed onto a tractor trailer and transported to a parcel of land recently purchased by Habitat for Humanity near Linda Drive. After some finishing work at the new site, the Habitat group will make the home available to its new owner.
