Surrounded by poverty and crime and raised in an environment of abuse and neglect, Boykin proudly points to education (the first in his family to step onto a college campus) as the vehicle of his escape and the pathway to his success.
Boykin shared his inspirational story with students at Broome-Tioga BOCES while visiting the area October 20 to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Co., Inc.
