Broome leadership group learns about BOCES

The visit provided these future leaders with a look at the variety and multitude of programs offered at one of the area’s leading regional educational facilities.

The visitors broke into small groups and visited several key instructional components at BOCES, including the Adult Education Program, Career Development Center, New Visions Program, Career & Technical Education Program, Alternative High School and Special Education programs PALS and Oak Tree.

Broome-Tioga BOCES provides programs and services to hundreds of students in the 15 school districts that comprise the BOCES region as well as to adults looking to improve their lives or enhance their career options. To accomplish that mission, BOCES partners with an array of local groups, agencies and businesses.

Broome Leadership Institute is a six-month community leadership program sponsored by the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. It offers people with leadership drive and commitment the contacts, skills, and knowledge needed to assume leadership roles in community organizations or elected positions. The program is designed to develop enthusiastic and well-informed leaders who are committed to making positive contributions to the community. Only 20 members are selected for each class, which runs from October through March.
