Local team to compete at Special Olympics USA Games

A group of seven local athletes are preparing to enter the Special Olympics USA Games scheduled for June 14-21 in Mercer County, New Jersey.

Three of the seven national team members are from BOCES’ Special Olympic team, the other four are from various teams in the area. Here are the seven national Olympic competitors, listed by sport followed by their name, sponsoring team and residence:

Bocce

Adeline Guzzi – BOCES, Vestal

Dana Hamm - Vestal, Johnson City

Tennis

Dawn Perry – Kirkwood, Whitney Point

Golf

Brandy Bush- Kirkwood, Binghamton

Chris Beylo- Johnson City, JC

TRACK

Mike Bergman – BOCES, Windsor

Laweren Waples- BOCES, Vestal

Tennis coach - Megan Gorski of Maine

The Special Olympics USA Games will feature approximately 3,500 athletes competing in seven sports.
