Video production student wins PSA contest

Monk, a Whitney Point resident, was selected for her video about making good choices when driving an automobile. The 30-seond spot was scheduled to run approximately 36 times on WBNG and sister station CW during July and August.

Contest organizers asked students to come up with an idea for a 30-second commercial about changing “social norms” as they apply to drug and alcohol use. Students were allowed to submit their ideas in script, storyboard, or video form. Monk’s winning entry was developed as part of the video production class’s unit on commercials and public service announcements (PSAs). Video production instructor Rod Wankel said students did the complete project by themselves, from the original concept to scripting, filming and editing.
