Description:

Supporting Thinking Skills for Students with Disabilities (BT BOCES)

Description:

Build your repertoire of skills needed for success in school and the workplace. We'll tackle specific strategies for explicitly teaching understanding, inferring, and comparing and contrasting, as well as organizational skills and time management. The resource, How to Teach Thinking Skills Within the Common Core, by James Bellanca, Robin Fogerty, and Brian Pete forms the basis of some of the day's work. Application across subject areas and the continuum of special education services, with an emphasis on grades 4 and up will be our focus.

- Inform instructional needs with executive function survey tools

- Plan and implement quality, research-based skills instruction with explicitly designed lessons focused on student needs

- Support your planning with deliberate, intentional decisions based on CCLS and CDOS Standards
