The Southern Tier Construction Career Day features a variety of organizations and schools associated with the construction industry as well as trade displays and heavy equipment demonstrations. For many students, the hands-on experience includes the opportunity to take the controls of a bulldozer, backhoe, dump truck and excavator, among other machines.
The event is sponsored by Broome-Tioga BOCES in partnership with the New York State Department of Transportation, Broome County Highway Department, Broome-Tioga Workforce New York, and several local companies and trade unions involved in the construction industry. This is no cost to participating schools.
