Bookmarking literacy around the world

Students in Broome-Tioga BOCES’ Evertech High School recently participated in a community service project called the “Students Rebuild Literacy Challenge,” producing hand-made bookmarks that will be given to children in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Each bookmark submitted to the challenge is matched with a $1 donation by the Bezos Family Foundation.

The BOCES bookmark donation was organized by teacher Sue Bennett and supported with a graphic design lesson taught by teacher Christine Crossgrove. The students produced bookmarks in their art classes and study halls.

To learn more about the challenge, go to this website: http://www.studentsrebuild.org/find-challenge/literacy-challenge

Below is a photograph of some of the donated bookmarks.
