Learning to save a life with CPR and provide emergency First Aid treatment for the injured are lifelong skills being taught at Broome-Tioga BOCES' East Learning Center in Binghamton.

With volunteer help from Endicott resident Dave Abell, who runs Abell Safety Training, students are earning certification in CPR and First Aid while fulling new graduation requirements set by the state.

At its meeting Wednesday, September 21, the Broome-Delaware-Tioga BOCES Board of Education unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing Superintendent Allen D. Buyck for his leadership, commitment and tireless advocacy on behalf of all students, staff and community partners.

To honor Buyck’s efforts in an enduring manner, the resolution effectively renames the Instructional Support Center on BOCES main campus the “Allen D. Buyck Instructional Support Center."

A ribbon-cutting dedication reception is scheduled for 3 p.m. October 21 at the Allen D. Buyck Instructional Center.
