Students and staff at BOCES' Evertech Academy set aside their fears, overcame their anxieties and put on quite a performance at the annual talent show sponsored by the library media center.

Comprised almost entirely of musical performances, this year's event featured the first-ever appearance by "The BOCES Band," a rag-tag group a staff and students whose latest recruit was drummer Allen Buyck, our district superintendent.

A student in Broome-Tioga BOCES’ Evertech High School has been recognized for using her artistic talents to help educate peers about the dangers of underage drinking.
Michelle Smetena was awarded third place in the Underage Drinking Poster Contest campaign sponsored by Lourdes Youth services. The Owego resident was joined by top-ten finalists and classmates Jacob Cross and Cierra Friese. The winners were announced during at NYSEG Stadium during a Rumble Ponies baseball game on April 19. In addition to receiving two free game tickets, Smetena was awarded a $25 Mirabito gift card. Her poster employed the theme “Be reliable, not liable,” and warned residents that “providing alcohol to an underage kid may result in a jail sentence.” Click here to view her poster.
