Academy Components
Assessment and Feedback
Participants take part in a day-long pre-assessment to evaluate competencies required for effective school leadership. This is followed by a private hour-long feedback session.
Leadership Development Plan
Participants write and work on an individual Leadership Development Plan. Click here to see an example.
Booster Sessions
Four interactive sessions are held to enhance knowledge and skills in important leadership and educational areas.
Team Project
Participants work in a small teams on projects of regional significance to develop their research, planning, decision-making and teamwork skills.
Mentoring
Practicing school administrators serve as mentors to academy participants, working on their educational development plans, helping translate theory into practice and engaging in discussions about problems and issues faced by educational leaders.
Meetings with Superintendents
Participants meet with their respective superintendents to discuss the roles of central office and other administrators and the issues they face.
Seminars/Workshops
Participants and mentors attend presentations by recognized experts in the field of leadership and education. Click here for more information.
Post-Program Assessment and Feedback
Participants take part in a half-day post-program assessment and a feedback session at the completion of the leadership development activities.
