History of the Technology Research Committee
The Technology Research Committee was established in 1987 by the Regional Advisory
Council for Computers in Education. The TRC's challenge is to keep school administrators
and their staff members in the 53-district
region aware of changes in instructional technology and to identify areas where
specific research and development projects should be undertaken. The committee
is also charged to select, monitor, evaluate, and
disseminate the results of these projects.
Each year, the committee identifies priority areas and shares information about the use of technology in
the region's schools through annual grants, a software database, and workshops.
The RAC
The Regional Advisory Council (RAC) serves as a consulting body to the Regional Information Center (RIC)
and the district superintendents for all general policies relating to regional networking and computer
services. RAC's goal is to assist the component districts and the three BOCES in the effective use of
administrative, instructional, and retional networking services.
