In addition to the basic service package, other support services are available on request. The school district's Committee on Special Education determines the need for there services as well as the amount and frequency required. These additional services are billed seperately.

Adapted Physical Education

Certified itinerant teachers provide direct Adapted Physical Education instruction for students in BOCES and district classes.

Consultant Teacher

The role of the consultant teacher varies and is defined by need. In some cases, the consultant teacher can facilitate and support inclusive initiatives within a district. In other situations, the consultant teacher may fill the more traditional roles of advisor, educational diagnostician, and remedial instruction specialist, which appropriately distinguish him or her from a regular classroom teacher. The cost is based on the level of participation and program expenses.

Deaf/Hearing Impaired

Deaf/Hearing Impaired services are limited to direct instruction. Students are included in regular school activities with the assistance of highly, trained specialists. Services such as speech therapy, counseling, etc. may be requested as "related services." This program requires specially-trained, certified instructors as well as specialized support personnel.

English as a Second Language

Certified staff provide students direct instruction in language development (indistrict classes).

Occupational and Physical Therapy

A certified intinerant teacher provides direct occupational and physicial therapy services for students in BOCES and district classes. These services require a physician's prescription.

Psychological Services

Psychological services are provided on a shared basis in support of instructional programs.

Speech/Disabled

Certified personnel provide direct instruction for speech-disabled students in BOCES and district classes.

Speech/Non-disabled

Certified personnel provide speech services on a shared basis for non-disabled students in district classes.

Social Workers

Social workers are provided on a shared basis in support of district and BOCES instructional programs.

Visually Impaired

Certified personnel provide direct instruction as well as consultation services for visually-impaired students in school district and BOCES classes.
