Telecom 5 is a regional telecommunications system that will improve and enhance educational services in the Southern Tier region. It's a technical effort to establish and operate an integrated regional telecommunications network of video, voice, and data to accommodate access within the state, and the world.

It's a regional cooperative effort to provide a broader range of educational services and programs to students and educators. The Telecom 5 Steering Committee coordinates these activities.

Funds to support this project are provided by the member school districts of the regions represented. Additional funds are supplied from educational and other organizations that wish to support regional programs.
