This cooperative distance learning service enables participating districts to effectively utilize the Luminet system, (traditional or mobile distance learning classrooms (synchronous/asynchronous), web-assisted options (virtual school and/or Blackboard) for student courses and staff development activites. Each participating agency in the service will be able to transmit audio and video communications to each of the other participating agencies and simultaneously receive audio and video communications. Video conferencing capabilities outside the Luminet system are also available.

The network service provides for the lease and maintenance of the fiber optic network, and the technical support for troubleshooting the network. The service includes fiber optic backbone hardware maintenance. The fiber optic network is currently utilized for the Luminet® Distance Learning Service and data communications networks.
