The Office of Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) within the New York
State Education Department promotes the development of local capacity to prepare students with disabilities
to be lifelong learners. The Lifelong Services Network helps educators and parents learn about individuals
with disabilities from preschool through postsecondary education.

The Special Education Training Resource Center assists school districts in
formulating, implementing and evaluating staff development plans that document research-validated,
educational best practices to improve achievement for students with disabilities. SETRC also provides
technical assistance to parents of school-age children and to representatives of community based agencies
who serve students with special needs.
