Workplace Readiness Instructional Units (1992)
High School/Adult Education
Workplace Readiness is intended to help prepare high school vocation education students for success
in the fast-changing workplace of the 1990s and beyond. Designed primarily for learners in grades
10 to 12, the materials may also be used in correctional settings, associate degree programs, and
adult vocational education courses. In addition, many of the lessons may be used in career guidance
courses and a number of high school academic courses. Workplace Readiness comprises three
free-standing instructional units, each focusing on a group of related skills: problem solving,
teamwork, and self-management. Materials for learners include 14 instructional video programs,
computer software and a printed workbook for use with the software, a 60-minute videodisc (or an
alternative videocassette version), a three-minute video program called "Why Workplace Readiness,"
and printed learner's guides and assessment portfolio folders for all three instructional units.
Materials for instructors include the informational programs "Why Workplace Readiness" and "About
Workplace Readiness," a teacher training video program for each instructional unit, and a printed
instructor's guide with student assessment strategies for each unit.

a disk containing the Model Presentations and overheads on Microsoft Word for Windows, Imagine Your
Future magazines, and a video entitled "Jobs: the Class of 2000" (includes seven video segments -
